NFL Season Week 15: Pittsburgh at San Francisco
By ER Kelly on Dec 19, 2011 | In Everyday Stuff
Oh, what an interesting week in the NFL. The Steelers take on the 49ers on Monday Night Football, but we'll get to that in a bit. First, the numerous upsets and oddities from Sunday:
The previously undefeated Green Bay Packers lost to the lowly Chiefs, ruining their run at a perfect season. On the flipside, Indianapolis won it's FIRST game of the season against Tennessee, so they may go 1-15 -which is still better than 0-16...lol. In other odd wins, Carolina beat Houston(#1 AFC South)...Washington(at 4-9) beat the Giants...Philadelphia(at 5-8) beat the Jets... and now my two favorite for Sunday:
The Denver Tebows finally got to play a real team, and lost miserably to the Patriots. I'm no Pats fan, but the Steelers already beat them this season and I can't stand Tim Tebow. AND THE BEST... Baltimore (who believes defeating Pittsburgh in the regular season is akin to a SuperBowl Championship) got DEMOLISHED by the freakin' Chargers! Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha! That's the Chargers....ya know... 3rd in the AFC West of all places.
The playoffs picture is getting pretty clear. I'd like to point out that the AFC North already has two locks in the playoffs and it is quite possible that there will be a third. Pittsburgh is currently #1 in their division, and it also quite possible at this point that they will overtake New England for the #1 spot in the AFC. The only divisions at this point without playoff clinches are the AFC West and the NFC East.
So on to the Monday Night game. Pittsburgh and San Francisco are both 10-3 and both #1 in their divisions. The only playoff team the 49ers have played all season is the Ravens, and they lost to the Ratbirds. In San Fran's favor, the game is at home, James Harrison is in the Timeout chair, and Big Ben is all beat up. I keep hearing about how wonderful San Francisco is at not allowing opponents to score. I assume they get those stats from all the games they played against teams without winning records.
GO STEELERS!
